Coal is the oldest and most cost-effective source of energy, with a large supply. Coal-generated electricity meets nearly half of global electricity demand. The increasing demand for energy as a result of rapid industrialization and the increasing reliance on electrification around the world is one of the key factors driving the market growth. However, coal-fired power plants emit massive amounts of polluting gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and nitrogen oxides (NOx).
Solid fuel is supplied from a bunker into a pulverizing mill, and the pulverized fuel is pneumatically conveyed to the furnace by splitting a larger fuel pipe into smaller ones through bifurcations and/or trifurcations in electrical power generation. A matrix of burners on a wall-fired or tangentially fired furnace is fed by the fuel distribution network.
