Cosmo Films highlights importance of lamination films

Cosmo Films, India’s leading specialty films manufacturer for packaging, lamination, and labeling applications, in a blogpost published on 31 December, highlighted the importance of lamination films.

“While attractive packaging catches the eye of the customer, they will put the product back if it is disfigured. You could have the safest route and the best packaging, but without an additional layer of support, it could get damaged,” it said.

“This is where lamination films come into play. Lamination films are thin films coated with adhesives that activate depending on the type of lamination process used. They provide a dual advantage to your product,” the company added.

Offers protection

The basic task of lamination films is to protect the product’s packaging. It prevents physical damage during transportation. It also increases the product’s shelf life by adding another layer of protection between the packaging and the atmosphere. These are used directly in graphic arts to improve longevity.

Luxurious finish

Regardless of how good the quality is, a cardboard box cannot attract that much attention compared to a matte/shiny film. Lamination films fill in the missing appeal for any product. Brands can choose from gloss, matte, velvet, and several other options according to your product’s style and consumer base. “There are many options in the market, but none come close to our BOPP-based lamination films,” Cosmo said.

Cosmo’s range of lamination films

Cosmo’s BOPP-based lamination films have extrusion-coated surfaces and a wide range of applications. The extrusion coated surface has low temperature melting resin, enabling lamination by heat and pressure, and comes in three variants:

Standard range - This is the company’s most versatile range of lamination films. The BOPP-based standard range supports both thermal and wet lamination processes with excellent adhesive anchorage. The films used for wet lamination offer excellent embossing and hot foil stamping.

Cosmo’s standard range of laminate can be used in new year posters, magazines, and diaries.

Premium lamination - This range is used for lamination of printed and plain surfaces, this range is specially designed for laminating luxury products, keeping the high-end industries in mind. Cosmo’s premium laminations are available in velvet, scuff-free, thermal linen & digital lamination variants.

The premium range is used to laminate luxury items like cosmetics and liquor boxes, photo albums, and books.

Special application - Cosmo Films engineered these for special applications in various industries worldwide. Its thermal insulation films are used for rooftop insulation because of their excellent moisture barrier, resistance to tear, and ability to bond with EPS (expanded polystyrene) sheets. It also offers excellent optical properties.

What Cosmo’s lamination films offer

Cosmo lamination films support both thermal and wet lamination processes. While thermal lamination is done by applying heat and pressure, wet lamination is carried out via dispersion, solvent-based, UV, or unique hot-melt adhesives. In addition to this, the thickness of our films makes the process of lamination easier than other conventional options.

The thermal film variants are compatible with all types of thermal laminating machines across the globe. Cosmo’s lamination film applications include lamination with digitally printed paper, paper boards, and expanded polystyrene, showcasing its amazing versatility.

The films have fiber-tear-bond strength with paper, excellent resistance to elongation and tear. With our premium range, brands get scratch and scuff resistance too. All these properties make them highly durable and the best choice to protect your products.
