He is currently the Municipal Youth Councilor and Municipal Planning Councilor. Fico Gutierrez is a Civil Engineer by profession at the University of Medellin and, from the same university he holds a Specialization degree in Management Senior and a second in Political Science from the Pontifical Bolivarian University.
Federico Gutierrez has been a consultant for HGI Consultores and Resident Engineer at Company Vifasa S.A. This construction and glass business however, was not his only area of focus. He is a staunch advocate for his family and believes it is crucial. He is married to two children.
As a councilman he supported the mayoralty of Sergio Fajardo and later that of Alonso Salazar. In 2015, he changed his goal and reached the Mayor's Office of Medellin. As with many mayors who were faced with the Hidroituango project he also had problems with corruption. Daniel Coronell published a report on him claiming that he kept his cash in tax-havens and was involved in corruption.
He has actually confronted the former mayors he backed, and recently stated that "I have been in solidarity with the people who are mentioned in this report because I don't believe anyone can make such a decision to make a tunnel fall and they are in solidarity. And what certain sectors do is an attack by political strategy."
A new race is being contested for the presidency
The so-called Experience alliance was established in the month of October 2021. It eventually became Team for Colombia. Federico Gutierrez was the Center-right alliance and won the candidacy. Paola Holguin, a Democratic Center congressman, ran again for a seat in the 2022 election.
