"As always, the criteria we use are quality that comes first, and the referees selected represent the highest level of refereeing around the world," said FIFA Referee Committee Chairman Pierluigi Collina.

Stephanie Frappart started her career as a professional referee in 2009. In 2011, she started her career in the Championnat National, or the third division of French football.

The 38-year-old referee then had the opportunity to referee in French Ligue 2 in 2014 and five years later finally led the duel in French Ligue 1.

His first match in charge of the French Ligue 1 match was on 28 April 2019, where he officiated the match between SC Amiens vs RC Strasbourg. In the same year, he was assigned to UEFA in the European Super Cup match between Liverpool and Chelsea.

Apart from Stephanie Frappart, the other two female referees who will be in charge of the 2022 World Cup are Salima Mukansanga of Rwanda and Yoshimi Yamashita of Japan. All three are included in the list of 36 referees who are prepared to officiate 64 matches at the 2022 World Cup.

As a child, Frappart was interested in football and tried to become a player.

Frappart first learned the rules of a soccer game as a teenager. He really enjoys playing football. However, he stopped playing at the age of 18 to pursue his dream of becoming a referee.

“I moved on and immediately started refereeing matches. Around 18-20 years old, I had to choose between football and refereeing," he said.
