Gustavo Petro, Winner of the Historic Pact: Lights and Shadows

Gustavo Petro the candidate confirmed on Sunday that he was the beneficiary who was spotted in polls for the past week.

In the end, the former Bogota mayor Bogota and former senator of the Republic managed to win the victory within the Historic Pact coalition and officially becomes a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic the United States, a position to which he is aspiring three times.

Another thing that has been criticized concerning him is the fact that he frequently promises that he will cease oil extraction once he takes his office. This has created anxiety among investors as well in the market.

Experts say Petro's idea of ending oil exploration would be devastating for Colombia which would cost Colombia $4.3 trillion.

Petro said that the Bank Board of Directors belongs to the Democratic Center. Accordingly, the candidate in the middle of a discussion stated "What do we want? The idea of creating money to finance government spending was also controversial.

Petro's ideas include an economy that is not dependent on mining and extraction of hydrocarbons in addition to a more prominent role for agriculture.

He also said that he would pursue a tax reform to eliminate exemptions and change the minimum wage concept into a real wage dependent on capital and income.
