You’ll lose weight, feel better, and reduce your risk of serious illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. You can also talk with your doctor about enrolling in a physical activity program or taking some other form of exercise; even small amounts of activity are better than none at all.

Fuel your body better

Eating better isn’t necessarily about cutting out all of your favorite treats. Enjoy a sweet snack once in a while, but make sure it’s smaller than what you normally have in one sitting. 

If you still crave sweets after one serving, take a walk or do something else healthy until you're craving passes. Write down what you ate at least once per week, too—keeping track of how many servings of each food group (carbs, protein, etc.) you consume can give you an idea of where your eating habits stand on any given day.
