Heel spurs are bony growths on the bottom of the heel, which direct towards the arch of the foot. Some people who have heel spurs never get to know about them, and others can experience a sharp pain which makes walking hard. This condition usually happens with plantar fasciitis, which is a condition that makes inflammation occur across the bottom of the foot, especially the heel part. Here are some heel spur treatments& remedies which can help you find relief.

1. Cold Compress
Cold therapy can help give relief to the pain under foot arch. One option is to apply a cloth covered with an ice pack to the heel. You can also use a cold compression pack to help it keep in place. These are sold at many drugstores in the form of gel packs or cold foot wraps. Repeat the cold pack application on an hourly basis while you are awake. Another option is you can rollover your foot over a cold-water bottle.

2. Shoes and Orthotics
Comfortable & well-fit shoes can help reduce the amount of pressure put on the heel spur. The pressure can cause a lot of pain & discomfort. Here is what you should look for when looking out for the shoe for comfort when you have a heel spur.
Firm Heel Support: The back part of the shoe should be strong to provide support to the heel & prevent the foot from rolling inward or outward.

Moderate Flexibility:A shoe shouldn’t be so flexible that you can collapse wearing it. However, the shoe should have a gradual bend which provides some resistance when the foot is flexed or bent.

You can also get custom-made orthotics that will slip into your shoes. They are designed to prevent the foot from rolling & offer extra heel support. They are made with the help of a prescription from the podiatrist.

3. Over-The-Counter Medications
The counter anti-inflammatory medications can help relieve heel pain & also discomfort. Examples of some medicine would be:
● Aspirin
● Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
● Naproxen Sodium/Naproxen (Aleve)
By decreasing tissue inflammation, these medicines can help reduce more damage. However, if you have any kidney problems, you should not take inflammatory medications.
We hope this blog helped you know how to tackle heel spur treatment & also some remedies regarding that.
