How Writing Can Improve Your Health and Well-Being

Have you ever been struggling with a problem that seems to take over your life? So much so that you dream about it and spend most of the day wondering what would be the right course of action to take?

You spend all day worrying about whether you should do this or do that and although you try to talk to your nearest and dearest or your colleagues all that happens is that they either tell you what they would do (which doesn't appeal to you at all) or tell you to get on with your life and stop worrying.

Either way you still don't know what to do and your health is beginning to suffer as a result. You lie awake each night so the dark shadows under your eyes are there for all to see. You aren't eating properly, life coach for women perhaps filling up on sugary snacks as a way of comfort eating or having lost your appetite not eating enough. So your weight has started to increase or drop dramatically. So what can you do?

1. You could find someone to support you who is not directly in your life such as a coach or a counsellor. You will be able to talk to that person, get the support you need and the help you are seeking to make the decision right for you from someone who is there to listen to your ideas and who will comment in a way which will help you to come to your own way forward.

2. Start to write. Use the technique of flow of consciousness writing. Take a book to be your journal and write in it every day. Write until several pages are covered in writing and you have written whatever comes into your mind. Keep your pen on the paper and don't edit what you write. Each day when you have finished writing put a book-mark in the journal so the next day you can carry on where you left off. Date your entries but don't re-read them, just write. What happens is that at first you will use the exercise for dumping all your frustration and other emotions about the challenge you have to deal with and then after a while you will begin to write about possibilities and actions you might take and begin to clarify your thoughts and find the way to move forward.
