Marijuana Dependence - Do You Have to End Smoking Weed?

As a doctor that specializes in alcoholism and habit, I address a number of frustrated college students with antidepressants. This age group has a tendency to try out medications and alcohol. I have observed through the years of my practice, that the antidepressants I prescribe do not be seemingly as successful in someone who's using marijuana and/or alcohol even if the utilization is infrequent. Listed below are 2 cases I've treated that demonstrate that point.

Case 1: I treated a 19 year old university boy for panic and depression. He explained he periodically used marijuana to relaxed herself before a cultural occasion (weekly or every different week) while he thought more comfortable about persons when he was high. He did not answer two different antidepressants I prescribed on the span of 12 weeks. I told him that his marijuana and alcohol use on the week-ends could be interfering with the drugs effectiveness. He consented to move without marijuana or liquor for a month. Sure enough, his social panic began to diminish although I had not changed the amount of his antidepressant or added any new medications. He experienced considerably paid off panic and despair and has not returned to marijuana or alcohol. He reported planning to cultural features, having a great time, and feeling more self comfortable than when he first stumbled on see me.

Case 2: I treated a 21 year old college lady for depression that would go out with her friends drinking on week-ends. She claimed she applied consuming to anesthetize herself and avoid her feelings of depression. She didn't consume at all throughout the week. I prescribed exactly the same antidepressant she'd performed well on when she was 14 decades old. But, following 6 months on a healing amount she remained depressed. At 14, she wasn't drinking alcohol. I told her that alcohol was a main anxious system depressant and was possibly counteracting the results of the antidepressant. I requested her to give up consuming and allow the medication do its job. She decided to this because her depression had gotten progressively worse over weeks and she thought miserable. Four weeks later, she buy marijuana online cheap much less depressed. She noted looking towards your day, obtaining it easier to keep up with her perform, and participating in more activities with her friends.

Equally these cases provide historical evidence that the antidepressants I prescribe for depression or panic do not seem to be as powerful when my school patients are actively applying liquor or marijuana. When I set an university student on medicine, I show him/her that it is hard for me to create positive biochemical changes in mental performance with the drugs I prescribe once the elements she or he is using counteract the positive effects of the medications.

Study on young depression with substance punishment, has helped to focus on teenager drug punishment or teenage consuming at the degree of abuse or dependence. There's perhaps not been significantly focus on recreational use of marijuana or liquor in that population. What are the dangers of marijuana and the problems of alcohol use when applied at a reduced level?
