Arabic months And Why Is It Named By Hijri date?
Hijri date named by this hence to the Hijrah (migration) of the prophet Muhammad PBUH and his companions from Mecca to Almadina (Yathreb), because of abuse they were exposed from heads of Quraysh.

After that the prophet Muhammad PBUH commanded by dated from the first year after the hijrah when the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) existed in Yathreb after Hijrah, he was connected with other kings and heads of different tribes by sending books were dated by Hijri date.

The first who’s indicated by this date was Ali bin Abi Talib and others, So Omar Ibn Al Khattab and the Companions approved that, and Omar ordered that it be dated from the Hijrah, and they dated it from the beginning of that year of Muharram.

The Hijri calendar consists of 12 lunar months, which means the Hijri year equals approximately 354 days, specifically 354,367056 days, and each month in the Hijri month consists of 29 or 30 days.

The Islamic (Hijri) date depends on the lunar system by following the phases of the moon, the lunar cycle is 29.530588 days, so there are 354 days per year.

1- Muharram (مــُــحــرَّم):
It’s the first month in the Islamic calendar, it’s a sacred month (there are 4 sacred months in islam) in the fact of the prophet Muhammad PBUH when he said ” the best month to fast, after that of Ramadan is shahrullah Muharram”, Muharram is the month of Allah SWT and no other month has been called that.

Muharram is considered to be from the most important four months rather than Ramadan. Therefore the highest owner has been given in this month, and no other month in Arabic months has been given to this honor.

2- Safar (صــَــفــَــر):
The second month in the Islamic calendar, the Arabic word of Safar means empty or vacant.

Before Islam Arabs used to go far away together for food in winter and they used to leave their house empty.

Some people believe that it’s to avoid travelling, marriage, or celebration in this month, the prophet Muhammad eradicate all superstitiuos and reject all inaccurate beliefs regarding the blessed month of Safar.

3- Rabi’ Al-Awwal (ربــيـــع الأول):
The third month of the Hijri date, this month witnessed significant events, like the birth of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, he was born in Mecca on Monday, 12th of Rabi Al Awal, the Allah choose this month to illuminate us with this mercy.

Another event was the Hijrah, which saw the prophet Muhammad PBUH and his companions migrate to Yathreb from Mecca to practice the religion of Islam without persecution.

4- Rabi’ Al Thani (ربــيع الــثاني):
The 4th month in the Islamic date, Rabi means spring, Al thank means the second, so the word means the second spring because the weather was pleasant in this month at the time the name was given, and also it followed the Rabi Al Awal.

5- Gamad Al Awal (جماد أول ):
It means that something is dry or rainless, and symbolizes any dry land or dry month.

The most significant event died of Fatima Bent Muhammad PBUH on the 10th of this month at age of 23 years in Madina.
