The London Metropolitan Police have confirmed the arrests of two Tottenham Hotspur fans for throwing shots at Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger. It claims it is investigating the throwing case.

This unpleasant incident was experienced by Antonio Rudiger when he appeared in the match week 24 of the Premier League 2021/2022, Sunday (23/1/2022). The Chelsea defender was thrown by two suspicious objects that came from the stands of the Tottenham Hotspur supporters while celebrating Thiago Silva's goal.

Antonio Rudiger had stopped and looked at the Tottenham Hotspur fans. In fact, the referee had to stop the match briefly to throw the two dangerous objects.

It didn't take long for the London Metropolitan Police to immediately arrest two people suspected of throwing Antonio Rudiger. Police will work closely with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur to resolve this case.

"Two men have been arrested on suspicion of throwing objects from the stands during Chelsea's match against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge. They have been arrested," the London Metropolitan Police said in a statement as quoted by Sky Sports.

"A joint investigation with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur is ongoing to identify anyone involved in the throwing of objects during the match," the statement concluded.

Chelsea won 2-0 over Tottenham Hotspur in that match. Hakim Ziyech (47') and Thiago Silva (55') scored the winning goals for the Blues.

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, regretted the throwing that hit Antonio Rudiger. Tuchel called on English football to maintain interaction between players, coaches and supporters.

"I sent a message to our fans, support us, we are happy they are near the pitch, we like that they don't need to be behind the net or fence," said Tuchel.
