JODHPUR - Jodhpur sprawling along the fringes of the Thar Desert is a blue city. Blue not for any lakes that reflect the clear azure of the skies above, but blue because of the tinted wash that is used to colour the houses of the city. Jodhpur was founded way back in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rathore clan. The tour will cover visit to Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhavan Museum and Jashvant Thada.

Mehrangarh fort: Mehrangarh is the biggest Fort in Rajasthan. Built a top 120 metre high hill in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the fort has withstood many a battle as is evident today from the marks of cannon balls on the Fort walls. Umaid Bhavan Museum: The museum offers a display of royal artefacts such as crystals, crockery and anything else that may have caught the royal fancy. The clock collection is the most interesting.

Jaswant Thada:

It is a beautiful cenotaph that was built by Sardar Singhji in the memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II who tried to set up a welfare state and was known for his reform measures. His irrigation schemes were quite successful.

BIKANER: Once Rao Jodha of Jodhpur scolded his brother and his son Bika for whispering in court, asking whether the two were plotting to build their own kingdom. They took this to heart. Rao Bika founded the city in 1488. The must visit tourist spots in Bikaner are Junagargh, the camel breeding centre or take a trip to the nearby Karni Mata Temple at Deshnok. Karni Mata Temple is one of the India’s most bizarre temples. It is also known as the rat temple.

JAISALMER:

Jaisalmer is one of Rajasthan’s most visited destination.
The city was established by Rawa Jaisal in 1156 AD. Jaisalmers’s first place of visit is the awesome Fort. This majestic fort, built of Golden Sandstone is the second oldest fort of Rajasthan and stands at a height of 80 mt. An interesting feature of Jaisalmer Fort is that it is still a living fortress: nearly a third of Jaisalmer ‘s population lives within the fort. And when you are in Jaisalmer spending one night in the Sam Dunes which is approx 45 kms from the city is one of the must to do activity in the itinerary.
