Set pieces have long become boring in FIFA over the years. While free kicks are still far too few for my taste, when you do get one, they're much more dynamic. Not only have set pieces been improved from a mechanic standpoint but they've also improved visually. With strong players and those with a good skill in the air , becoming important again, it's great to witness EA enhance this aspect within the games.

The feature I am most interested in experiencing firsthand was the new physics system. With HyperMotion 2 being touted as an approach to bring real-world physics into the game, I was eager to test if the changes made a real difference. Well, it's a mixed bag regarding this aspect. On one side, you'll notice the latest version of ball physics on display whenever you switch the play. The ball spins and rotates real-time as you follow the ball's path through the air.

However, the elements EA pointed out in its pre-release announcements, like collision physics and deflections look and feel similar to the last time. While the weight of the players has increased, which is a good thing however, players still hit each other and produce unrealistic collisions, especially when considering how often they keep their finger glued to your sprinter button.

A large portion of the new deflections produced by the extension of a leg or foot are visible only on replay. In addition, replays I've seen -- especially those of the power type may cause some painful injuries cheap FIFA 23 Coins. Deflections and 50-50s are still favored by the AI especially as you become familiar with the new body kinds and what they mean regarding acceleration.
