Some Essential Products That You Need For Your Cat

Bringing home a feline and taking care of her is a lifelong commitment. Feline parents need a lot of supplies/products to raise their feline and choosing them is challenging. Especially, if they are first-time feline parents.

Whether it is a kitten or an adult feline, here are some essential products that feline parents need to ensure for their feline’s happy and healthy life. Be sure to check-off from this list below.

1. Microchips, Collar and ID Tag

Proper identification of a feline is important because, without it, there is a chance she will not be able to make it home if she secretly gets out of the house. While a collar and ID tag is the most common form of identification, microchips are becoming the new and popular norm.

2. Litter Box and Litter

A litter box with good-quality litter is necessary to ensure that a feline has a safe place to relieve herself inside or outside the house. If there is more than one feline, each feline should be provided with an individual litter box.

3. Food and Water

While planning for the arrival of a feline, food and water need to be made sure. It’s also important to decide what type of food to feed the feline. Find out what the feline is currently eating so that the transition to a personally preferred cat food can be started gradually. Feeding the best dry cat food or wet food which is made with high-quality ingredients and free from grains, preservatives or fillers will help make this transition easier and avoid gastrointestinal problems.

4. Warm and Comfortable Bed

Felines love to sleep somewhere warm, cosy and comfortable. In fact, most felines spend their day sleeping. That’s why it is important to ensure a warm and comfortable bed for them to sleep. However, young felines prefer sleeping on the couch.

5. Fun and Safe Toys

There are many different cat toys available online and offline to choose from. It’s good to make a feline familiar with each of these toys to get to know what she likes best. Playing with toys also needs safety. Don’t leave the feline unsupervised with any toy that can break into small pieces in her mouth and choke her.

6. Scratch Posts

Felines need scratch posts because they need a way to stretch their bodies and file their nails. A scratching post should be at least 3 ft tall to give a feline enough room to fully stretch her back and legs. In the absence of a scratch post, a feline may use the house furniture which isn’t an ideal option for her and her feline parents.

7. Brush and Nail Clippers
The natural habit of all felines is to keep themselves clean and groomed. Purchasing a nice brush and brushing a feline will help her feel well-groomed and cared. While a scratching post will help file a feline’s nails, they should still be cut with appropriate cat nail clippers to make sure they don’t grow too long.
8. Cat Carrier
A cat carrier is important to bring a feline home safely for the first time. It can also be used to travel anywhere with her or while taking her to the veterinarian. For a new feline who doesn’t feel comfortable sleeping around in a newly introduced environment, a cat carrier can be used as her den.
9. A Veterinarian
Before bringing home a feline, getting in touch with a trusted veterinarian and establishing a relationship with them is essential. Even if the decision is to adopt a senior feline, yearly check-ups should be done to ensure the well-being and health of the feline throughout her life.
