Some of the main attractions in Curacao

Curacao is an island located in the Caribbean Sea, about 50 kilometers off the coast of Venezuela, and belongs to the group of Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. The main city of Curacao is Willemstad.

The island attracts tourists with its fine white sand beaches, located in small secluded coves, and in addition, it is considered one of the best diving spots in the entire Caribbean Sea.

Curacao (see here) is home to over a hundred ethnic groups, so the island's culture is very diverse and varied. Many national traditions remain unchanged.

The climate on the island is subequatorial, sunny and hot throughout the year, the average air temperature is over 28° C. The rainy season lasts from September to October, when it rains at night and then it is sunny and hot during the day.

Tourists will be enchanted by the local cuisine, which will delight them with grilled fish, goat stew, and different kinds of meat. Traditionally, you will be served beef soup, plantain, onions, potatoes and spices, as well as Keshi Yena cheesecake.
Attractions include Curacao Museum, Señor Vineyard and Hato Caves with giant stalactites, beautiful underground lakes, waterfalls and a colony of bats. The island is home to Christoffel Park, where you can see iguanas, rabbits, donkeys, exotic birds and white-tailed deer, lizards and sea turtles.

Active holiday lovers will have the opportunity to practice various sports on the beach: tennis, volleyball, golf, diving, snorkeling and windsurfing. Licensed divers will be able to swim alongside sharks.

The main architectural monument of the island is the charming town of Willemstad, known all over the world for its small old houses. The miniature city was founded in 1634 and now its entire territory is a UNESCO site. It is interesting to walk around this city and you can complement the hike with a visit to local museums, restaurants and gift shops.

Among a variety of natural places, it is worth highlighting Hato Caves. They are very large; the area of this cave complex is about 5000 square meters. In the caves, researchers managed to find many interesting artifacts. They discovered that for 1,500 years the cave had been home to local tribes. The caves were formed a million years ago. They are now of great interest from a geological and historical point of view.

In Willemstad there is a very interesting Kura-Huland museum. It is dedicated to the culture of the islanders and houses a very interesting collection of anthropological artifacts. It consists of 15 buildings, covering over 1,500 square meters. Each building has a special collection dedicated to a specific time period or a specific cultural direction.

There is a very interesting religious monument on the island - the Mikve Israel-Emanuel synagogue. It is the oldest functioning temple in the Western Hemisphere. The first synagogue building was built in 1674. The building that tourists can see today was built a little later, in 1733.

With the design of the synagogue, it looks more like a museum; here you can see interesting antiques and jewelry at every step.

The island has excellent conditions for active beach holidays. However, travelers with children should not limit their vacation here only to beach activities. Family fun can be incredibly exciting and versatile.

There is also a beautiful Curacao Zoo and a nature reserve, which is located within a picturesque national reserve. Exotic monkeys, elegant pink flamingos, cute rabbits and vibrant exotic birds are just a few of the inhabitants of this unusual zoo. Visitors can take pictures with many of the zoo's inhabitants.

This zoo is very different from the usual ones. It looks more like a nature reserve where animals spend time in their natural habitat. The reserve is equipped with wonderful playgrounds for children, and in a special center conducts art lessons for them.

Last but not least, anyone who has been to Curacao knows Mambo Beach, and for good reason. This centrally located beach is a must-see for many people. Mambo Beach is completely packed during the weekly happy hour, which is one of the best ways to finish the week and celebrate the weekend. Mambo Boulevard connects Lions Dive Resort, Mambo Beach and Cabana Beach, making it an ideal base for a stroll and refreshing dive.
