The second thing with GE is that they tend to be a little pricey

As mentioned previously a good grinder is a fantastic addition but not totally necessary. If you do decide to buy one look for a good burr grinder and only grind what you need on the day. It is possible to buy pre-ground coffee that is vacuum packaged to seal in the freshness. You can do this but ideally grab fresh beans and grind yourself.

At the $850 mark you get a fully automatic front loader with a 4 cu ft capacity, 11 wash cycles, fully automatic dispensers that can be timed, LED display panels, plus a quite package. You also get the option of different colors if you are inclined that way.

If you go above this mark in the price you pretty much get a very similar machine except that you get a higher spin speed at 1330 RPM instead of 1100. You also get the steam wash option and a much larger capacity that is usually around 4.5 to 5 cu ft in size.

With so many options, GE is one of the best places for you to start your search for washing machines. Their only flaw is that if you go in for their cheaper, plastic drum versions, you will find that their performance drops within a few months of you buying them. Most of them start to judder and shake and start "walking" which is the industry terminology for machines that move when in their spin cycle.

The second thing with GE is that they tend to be a little pricey for the features offered. For example, at $900 everything that they give is pretty much par for the course, while they do not even offer the bacteria free rinse that is standard on a Bosch on even their lowest costing one. Even LG offers more features at this price.

GE makes a very good starting place for your search, and their mid range washers that cost between $500 and $700 are the best value for money proposition. If you want to go to the next price band, then there are other manufacturers who may be a better choice.
