Traveling to Asia is an exotic experience. There is so much to see and experience, especially the food. The food itself in Asia is as diverse as its culture, bearing influences from all over the world. One key aspect to traveling to Asia is to be able to sample its food, as it is distinctly unique and exotic. Therefore to be able to sample as much food as possible Asia you must be able to budget your money wisely. Here are some great tips on how to save money on food in Asia.

Tip 1.) Eat at the local establishments

The beauty of Asia is that there are numerous local eating establishments run by families, which serves hearty and authentic Asian meals. These establishments are what you call the “mom and pop” restaurants, typically owned by families which were passed down from generations to generations. What you will find in these local establishments is that there is a “heart and soul” that is hard to describe that was put in to every meal that was prepared there. This is where you will find the authenticity of the meal. In addition, another big advantage of eating at the local establishments is that they serve up fare that is affordable. So it’s a win-win scenario: eat great and pay less.

Tip 2.) Drink the local beers and wines

Instead of paying extra for imported beers, wines, and other alcoholic drinks, why not pay less for a domestic brew? There are numerous local branded beers and wines that are equally as good, if not better than the imported brand names. You will save much more on the cost, and also have an experience and taste of what Asian brews are made of. For example, if you go to Japan, there are numerous locally brewed beers, such as from Kirin Breweries, and Sapporo Breweries, all which have a distinct taste that you can only find in Japan. Tip 3.) Go groceries shopping at the local wet market

Asia is well known for its exotic outdoor wet markets that sell all your local fresh fruits, vegetables, and other produce. Another way to save money and to experience how the locals shop for groceries, is to venture out to the local wet markets, and shop for your groceries to cook for yourself! What you will find in Asia’s wet markets are its varied and exotic ingredients that you will rarely find in western countries in Europe and North America.

Asia is a big place to go to sample great food with a lot of variety. Food in Asia is also quite cheap when compared to most western countries in Europe and North America. By following the simple tips above, you will be able to have a very enjoyable experience, as well as to be able to save lots of money on food in Asia.
