Sometimes you need to set fasteners on walls such as Screw and nail into a material that does not hold tight you use an anchor for holding it in place, that is why materials like drywall, concrete, and brick need anchors.
This drywall anchors are simply called a wall anchor which comes in many designs the main aim of providing an anchor is that it holds any fastener in a steady position and then distributes the pressure to the side and back of the drywall and this spread its load on a wider area of the wall.
The German inventor Artur Fischer Patended drywall anchors in 1958, Fischer’s expanding nylon plug was the first of many designs which allow DIY for hanging almost anything from their walls.
