Victoria And David's Navy And Blush Wedding

An idyllic rural venue along with a lovely summer's day composed of all of the delays for this couple's wedding. Victoria and David met at the office. "For our first date we visited a bar in Belfast called The Empire for his or her comedy night," says Victoria. "It was at 10 pm and we didn't want the night time to end. So we wound up in a local nightclub until around 4 am. I think this is when we knew it had been going to work. We both needed to stagger into work the following day, very hungover, which raised several eyebrows!"

A SUNSET PROPOSAL

"The proposal was magical," says Victoria. "I couldn't have wanted anything more perfect. We were on vacation in Ibiza having a big number of friends, coupled with setting aside each day just for all of us. David explained he'd planned each day for us and I just assumed it might be lunch somewhere and perhaps some shopping."

"That morning we got up and also got on the ferry to Formentera. I had always wanted to go, so I was on the moon. It still hadn't dawned on me he might propose. When we got there, we simply lazed on the beach all day long. Then David explained we were required to go back towards the harbor, once we had a lift to consider us to dinner. It was then I began to get a bit suspicious."

"A private bus picked us up and took us to Gecko Beach Club. We were met by a member of staff at the door who took us out into the garden overlooking the beach, high was a table and chairs set up for a private dinner. We had our very own waiter who greeted us with champagne and canapés. Then, just because of the sunset, David called me to look at it. As I was admiring the vista, David proposed. It is beautiful and I was completely gobsmacked!"

BRIDAL SHOPS FEELTIMES

Victoria found her dream dress at FeelTimes bridal shops online. "The staff was so helpful," she says. "FeelTimes was the very first wedding dress shop I'd have you been to and my dress was the very first dress I tried on. I only used it on because I thought it had been everything I didn't want. Although, when the zip went up, I knew it had been my dress. I couldn't believe how easy it had been."

DELIGHTFULLY RUSTIC

The couple finds the Larchfield Estate, just beyond Lisburn in Northern Ireland for his or her wedding. "We didn't desire a hotel wedding but we wanted a place we could need to ourselves with accommodation for the bridal party and family," says Victoria. "Larchfield was an ideal venue for all of us, once we could dress up however we wanted, and also the rustic buildings and unique 'Glamping Truck' accommodation suited our personalities a lot."

A NAVY AND BLUSH THEME

"We got married around the 23rd of August 2021, our third date because of the lovely Covid," says Victoria. "Originally our date for the wedding was the 31st October, Halloween. However, it had been postponed twice. As it had been due to become an autumnal wedding, we'd chosen navy for that bridesmaids and navy for the cake and stationery."

"When we changed the date to August, we thought we were likely to have to rethink the color choices. In the end, we just changed the flowers to become more neutral, having a tiny pop of blush plus some pampas to point out the proposal. All the navy looked so beautiful and chic next to anything else."

THE BIG DAY

"On the day I was so lucky, because it had rained the majority of the week, but your day before our wedding the elements changed," says Victoria. "On the day we've got a sunny 23℃. Not so great for that guy in three-piece suits though! We traveled towards the venue in VW Camper vans and my father walked me down the aisle. We had the very best humanist ceremony, officiated by Emma Bailie (Our surname is Bailie too, but no relation, that is funny!). She was amazing as well as involved some of our guests within our couple's story."

DRINKS AND CANAPÉS IN THE SUN

After the ceremony, there would be a drinks reception with canapés. "We had plenty of photos taken, while my pal Scott played acoustic music for everybody," says Victoria. "We then had dinner before moving the evening reception outside, as the elements were so good. Our band played to everyone underneath a canopy and that is where we'd our first dance, to 'Let's Stay Together by Al Green."

"Christine at Fleuriste did an amazing job with these flowers and dressing the venue. She even added a neon sign having said that 'The Bailies' towards the arch she had created for that ceremony."

"Our guestbook was a classic record player that my aunt had won inside a radio competition about half a century ago. David is a huge vinyl collector, therefore we thought people signing vinyl will be a nice touch."

CAKE AND VODKA 'SHOTS'

"The wedding cake would be a three-tier navy cake decorated with gold. It is stunning, don't even get me going on how yummy it had been too. I'm already attempting to think of the next cake I can order from Landa, simply to try it again!"

"For our favors, I wanted to provide a bit of acknowledgment towards the Covid situation, so I made roughly four liters of toffee vodka and set it into syringes. During the speeches we got everyone to consider their 'Toffee Vodka Covid Jab' and it had been a small talking point. I was delighted at how nice the toffee vodka ended up too! We also had sparklers, like a nod to the original Halloween date."

"The music was an eight-piece band, who played for any couple of hours," says Victoria. "They were brilliant and everyone was up dancing. There would be a conga line at one stage but I missed it. I think I may have been in the bar! Then we were built with a DJ to complete up. Afterward, my wedding party and some family continued the party within the cottages at Larchfield until roughly 6 am! It was the very best day we're able to have wished for."

MY TOP TIPS…

"Take 30 minutes with your partner to simply take within the moment," says Victoria. "Enjoy celebrating together with your guests and try to not let all of the photo-taking get in the way of enjoying your entire day. Keep guest numbers small compared to what you would think, you barely see everyone around the day, a lot is going on!"

"I recommend obtaining a videographer to capture the moments you don't see. Order your breakfast for that morning when you invest in ready. You need a full stomach for that day ahead. Last, but not least, don't take into account anything. The day is going to be perfect, even though you forget to create or make a move."
