What is the Power-Assisted Liposuction Recovery Timeline?

Power-assisted liposuction is one of the most sought-after liposuction techniques due to its stunningly long-lasting results. Compared to its predecessor, the traditional liposuction, this procedure is much gentler and more permanent. As a result, many prospective patients wonder about the power-assisted liposuction recovery timeline.

Today, advanced centres like RG Aesthetics that adhere to international standards of patient care use the power-assisted MicroAire device in liposuction. This minimally invasive technology only requires a 3-4mm incision to access the stubborn subcutaneous fat. Thus, it is also minimally traumatic, promoting a faster recovery.

During the Procedure

Liposuction surgery is performed under local or general anesthesia. It is an outpatient procedure that consists of making small incisions in well thought out places to address the excess fat. A power-assisted cannula the size of a pencil is inserted after making the incisions. This cannula is connected to a suction apparatus and the MicroAire device through a plastic tube.

The procedure is done only in the "storage" area, where excess fat gets stored in the body and never in the metabolic area. Liposuction is a painless operation, taking about 25 minutes. After suctioning out the excess fat, your surgeon immediately sutures the incisions and dresses the area. The dressing is done for two main reasons; to address the incisions and compress the suctioned area.

Power-Assisted Liposuction Recovery Timeline

Depending on the procedure, you will not need to stay in the hospital after the surgery. Your post-operation recovery involves just a few days of rest — no heavy work or stress on the area that was under the needle. Any lingering pain and discomfort can be dealt with with the help of prescribed analgesics. You will also have to take antibiotics to avoid any infection.

For the first few weeks after power-assisted liposuction, you will need a compression garment to assist your skin in reattaching to the underlying muscles and control swelling. Everybody heals at their own rate, but on average, a person can go back to normal activities in about two weeks.

It is advised to keep away from any situation that requires sitting for long hours, like driving long distances, for some weeks after liposuction surgery. Your swelling and bruising reduce over a few weeks as your body settles into its new contours. With a sophisticated device like MicroAire, you get unparalleled results, and you should give your body the necessary care to show you these results.

Even if the new shape is apparent after recovery, it will probably take longer to see your desired final result—about 3 to 6 months. The result, once evident, however, is long-lasting. A person mindful of their diet and exercise can preserve the results the most.

When you choose a board-certified plastic surgeon in Delhi like Dr Rajat Gupta, you get expertly crafted contours after undergoing power-assisted liposuction. Dr Gupta also combines the MicroAire device with the ultrasound-assisted VASER technology at RG Aesthetics for greater precision and refinement. Thus, he delivers excellent and safe results from every liposuction procedure!
