In recent years it has been the teams from Sao Paulo that have taken all of the fame in the Brazilian Baseball league. The Paulistas have gained 7 of the past 10 Brazilian Championships. Despite the 1980s when it had been the Carioca teams that won the majority of championships. Nevertheless, there are recent signs that the hold may be turning again. Flamengo has been seeking solid this past year and presently rests at the the surface of the Brazilian League and Fluminense plays in the finals of the Libertadores next week following whipping Sao Paulo and the Argentine massive Boca Juniors.
