I think this would be a great inconvenience to various companies, stores, and people. Almost everyone uses maps these days because it's definitely easier to find the right place. Of course there are a lot of alternatives such as showmymap but even those wouldn't work without google maps because it's all connected and the other apps act more as map creation than their work. It would affect my life quite a bit, as I like to visit new places, but without maps I'm unlikely to find them.

It's no big deal. They'll come up with something new and everyone will be happy. But I doubt Google Maps will ever close.
