How my Renault TRIBER BS6 helped my kid earn an A+?

One Sunday while I was at home, my 8-year-old son came to me with a question. He had to complete a school project on “Efficient Machines.” He came to me and said that while he knew what machines were, he was struggling to comprehend what efficiency was.
Not wanting to confuse an 8-year olds young mind, I decided to explain to him the meaning of efficiency through an example.
I asked him “do you know what BS6 is?”
“That is the name of our car” he replied with confidence pointing towards my Renault TRIBER BS6.
I smiled at his innocence and decided to continue.
“Come, let me tell you how a car’s engine works” I took him to my TRIBER and opened its bonnet to show him the car’s engine.
“In simple terms, fuel is injected in the car’s engine. It gets burnt here and the residue leaves the engine in the form of exhaust” I briefly explained him the process.
“Then how come our car does not leave any dark smoke while many other cars emit a very dark and pungent smoke,” he asked me innocently.
“That is because our Renault TRIBER BS6is a fuel-efficient car,” I said.
From his facial expressions, it was evident that the concept of efficiency was still not clear to him yet. So I decided to elaborate on efficiency further.
“Imagine you have two cars that you use to commute between point A and point B. Now if one of the cars requires a litre of petrol for covering that distance and the other requires slightly more than that, then which car is more efficient?” I questioned him.
“The one which requires less Petrol” he replied without blinking an eyelid.
“So, first a machine is something that saves human effort. And second, efficient machines are those which require lesser resources to achieve the same result” I felt that I had finally explained to him what efficiency was.
But knowing him, I knew that the next question was ready for me.
“But what if I load one car with 6-7 passengers and the other with just 3-4, will the efficient car still perform efficiently?” he asked.
Then I opened my TRIBER’s doors and asked him to count the number of passengers that could be seated in it.
“Maximum 7” he replied.
“So, if our TRIBER can carry up to 7 passengers and the car of our neighbour can carry just 4 or 5 in the same quantity of fuel over the same distance, then which car is more efficient?” I questioned him again.
“The one which can carry more passenger in same or lesser fuel” he replied. I felt that he was starting to appreciate the concept of efficiency.
“Now, let me add one more piece of information. Our car is BS6 compliant, which means that it burns the fuel better than our neighbour’s 4-year old BS4 compliant car. Also, with a price tag of just Rs. 5.12 Lacs (ex. Showroom Delhi), our car is much economic to own and operate than our neighbour’s sedan. So, which of the two is an efficient machine?” I questioned him one last time.
“Our Renault TRIBER BS6” he replied with a firmness in his voice.
He spent the next two hours writing his project. He explained the TRIBER’s fuel-efficient engine, its 7-seater capacity, and its modular seating arrangement besides explaining the car’s comfort and safety features. While he did not show me the final output, I felt that he had understood the concept fairly clearly.
Finally, after about a week, he came running and proudly showed me his grade. He had scored an A+ for his project and was smiling ear to ear.
Reading his report car, I knew deep inside that I couldn’t have found a better example for explaining to him the concept of “Efficient Machines” than my Renault TRIBER BS6.
