In the article Will Big Business Save the Earth? Jared Diamond discusses the influence of business on the environment of the planet. The climate change and global warming humanity faces today are big problems. Some companies and one of the famous letter writing service already began to change and improve their production methods to make them less harmful for the environment.
Modern technologies help to make the environment cleaner, reduce waste, and save resources. The article communicates the idea that while some companies are satisfied with the status quo, a responsible approach towards business activities helps to decrease the consumption of resources, protects the reputation of businesses, and helps to save the planet.

The problem of global warming is urgent nowadays. Even though it is an important issue, not all people realize it and try solve it. Argues that lack of action will inevitably result in a global disaster: Not acting on the global change would be like being in a car with bad brakes driving toward a cliff in the fog. I support the idea that polluting the earth with harmful substances will lead to terrible consequences for the people and the planet where they live. Nowadays, many companies pollute the air and do not think of the results of their activity. Their main aim is to make more money and spend less. However, production may directly influence the environment and the health of people.

Some companies already began to change and improve their production methods to make them less harmful for the environment. They do this not only to improve their reputation but also to show the society and other companies that it is possible to preserve the planet. To stress that there are those who try to solve the issue of the negative impact of production and those who do not, says, ve discovered that while some businesses are indeed as destructive as many suspect, others are among the worlds strongest positive forces for environmental sustainability. Such companies as Walmart, Coca-Cola, and Chevron serve as good examples of businesses that adopted harmless production techniques. They prove that companies can not only reduce the poisoning of the environment but also save money. It is much more expensive and difficult to try to fix environmental problems caused by production than to avoid them. The aforementioned companies recycle plastic bottles, use organic materials, reduce energy consumption and emissions, and decrease water usage with the help of various technologies. They chose to prevent the harm caused by their production instead of dealing with the consequences. Those companies prove that it is possible to earn money and save the environment at the same time.

Technologies will help people save the earth and minimize the destruction of the planet. Businesses should use new technologies to dispose of waste and recycle as much as possible to make the surroundings healthier and cleaner. Moreover, governments and local authorities should fine those who pollute the environment, strictly control manufacturing processes, help to apply new technologies in industry, and reward the companies that help preserve the planet. Businesses play a significant role in the change of the environment, and the state of the earth greatly depends on their technologies and the quality of their production processes.

In conclusion, I share the author's opinion and appreciate the efforts of certain companies to save the environment. If everybody followed their examples, the planet would be much cleaner and healthier. I think what they are doing is challenging, but they think about the consequences of their activities and provide a great example for others. Every bottle they recycle makes a change, and I respect such companies and people who run them because they may sacrifice their profits in an attempt not to pollute the environment and save it from wastes and emissions.
