The various characteristics of the organic pigments

Organic pigments are colored materials that are derived from organic compounds having pigment properties. There are numerous types of common pigments such as phthalocyanine pigments, lake pigments, azo pigments and quinacridone pigments that are frequently used in the commercial and industrial spheres. The process of synthesis used for the organic pigments is the same as that used for organic dyes. Hence they are generally manufactured by companies operating in the dyeing industry. Nevertheless, it is important to note that these pigments are different in their characteristics than the organic dyes. The organic pigments have got no affinity to colored substances. They instead stay attached to upper surface of colored substances through film-forming or adhesive material in order to achieve the coloring purpose.

The synthetic pigments usually require a lot of chemical processing and this naturally increases their costs by volume.    

The organic pigments are commonly much brighter and better when it comes to their tonal quality when compared to the inorganic pigments found in the market. The main obstacle with the organic pigments is that their color does not last for long. Nevertheless, they make safe coloring products for different types of food items. This is why the food dyes manufacturer in India prefers to make the organic dyes so that they can be used for adding color to the food products. These colors have been regarded as safe for use in the food industry.
