Oshawa is a city located at shoreline of Lake Ontario. Due to the presence of automobile industry it is known as “City in motion”.

Education

Durham district school board operates public education in Oshawa region. There are about 28 elementary and 6 secondary schools in Oshawa. More than 12 catholic schools are operated by Durham district school board. Kingsway college, Durham college,elementary school, Immanuel Christian school and college park elementary schools are some of the famous private schools in Oshawa.

Post-secondary educational institutes have approximately 22,000 full time students i.e. Trent university Durham, Durham college and University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT). Durham college was opened in 1967 and expanded till now. It offers 140 different programs.

University of Ontario Institute of Technology was founded in 2003 that now give city its industrial heritage. It offers courses which emphasize technology, manufacturing and engineering themes. UOIT has two buildings at different independent campus locations (North Oshawa and downtown area). Not only it includes 70 specialized research laboratories and facilities, but also offers degree programs in Automotive Engineering and Nuclear engineering that are not provided by any other university in Canada.

Health care

One of Ontario's largest community hospitals is Lakeridge Health center. It was formerly known as General Hospital of Oshawa. It also facilitates Oshawa community by RS. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer center.

Lakeridge Health Education and Research Network (LHEARN) is working under Lakeridge Health Oshawa. It was opened in 2013 and facilitates Queens University for academic training to family physician residency programs. This center provides training and testing medical professionals including doctors, nurses and first responders. So, they can practice before their professional work.

The largest multispecialty medical group practice center in Canada, Oshawa clinic is also present in Oshawa.

Emergency services

Policing in Oshawa, Ontario is given by the Durham Regional Police Service. There are two police headquarters in Oshawa. One is located at 77 Center Street North in midtown zone, while South Oshawa Community Policing Center is situated at Cedar Street. EMS/Ambulance administrations are likewise worked by the Region of Durham. Oshawa Fire Services is operated through five fire stations situated at different locations. 6th flame station is under development at the upper east corner of Simcoe Street North and Britannia Avenue East.

Oshawa was a primary city in Ontario to give paramedic administrations. In 1979, 16 emergency vehicle orderlies were given specific preparing to treat heart related issues in pre-medical clinic setting. The program was known as Pre-clinic Cardiac Care (PHCC) program. From this single administration, paramedic preparing was extended to Toronto, Hamilton and the Provincial air emergency vehicle administration. It is a lovely place for walking along water front. It is attractive for family picnics due to its Lake view.

Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens

There are networks of parks along the lake of Ontario that is nestled within downtown area. It’s a beautiful place with different varieties and species of flowers and plants.

Intrepid Park

It is a site of Camp-X that was a secret army training area during WWII. People who loves to see war historical and espionage, they should visit Intrepid Park.

Real estate

Real estate is not very demanding in Oshawa due to house supply shortage. Average selling price in February was approximately $580,743 that was about 1.8 percent less as compared to previous year.
