What's so Special About Wedding Cakes From Elkhorn?

In my family there are 3 kinds of wedding cakes-the traditional white cake, the Elkhorn cake, along with the Jewish Wedding Cake. My mom always made the standard white cake to our weddings Keto Pizza Dough. She would bring the best cake she could bake this day and if it was done, she would abandon it to be served to all of the guests. One of her special friends, a relative who happened to live near her heart, could deliver the Elkhorn cake every year for her mum's birthday. My mom had told me all the fantastic things about the Elkhorn cake, and I had been excited to see what type of shape it would take. I was even more excited when she explained that she left it using an oven which has been seven hundred degrees Fahrenheit! That was quite hot! It had been so long I could hardly reach across the top to find a number of this cake.

My sister and I baked and made two small cakes that were equal to the one my mother left. Then we left several large ones for your wedding reception. When they were done, my mom asked me to bake one more for her birthday. I was more than happy to oblige, and I can't say I regret doing it.

I have baked several kinds of wedding cakes and I will tell you one of them tastes much better than some of those my mother ever made. The smell of baking bread is very addictive. It is possible to taste the spices and the sweetness. It makes a great dessert after the main course has been served.
