Webroot is amongst the best antivirus software out there. It is used by millions of consumers across the world. Sometimes users report several issues like VPN is blocked by Webroot antivirus.

Once Webroot blocks the VPN, then it will restrict you from making a VPN connection. There are many antivirus programs available in the market, and most of them come with smart VPN services while others are overprotective, like Webroot. They block VPN connections that create issues for the users.

Disabling Webroot Temporarily

If you want to deactivate Webroot temporarily, then you should take every step with care. The entire process will help you to enable your VPN blocked by Webroot issues.

Here are the steps to turn off Webroot temporarily:

Firstly, search for the Webroot icon in your system dock.
Then, perform a right-click on the system tray icon and then hit the Shutdown Protection tab.

Excluding VPN in Webroot

You should exclude your VPN software from Webroot protection settings. It automatically resolves the blocked VPN by Webroot antivirus issue.

Here are the steps to exclude your VPN in Webroot antivirus software:

At the start, open the Webroot antivirus software on your device.
Then, reach the Threat and Virus Protection settings.
Choose the Exclusions option there.
After that, choose to Remove or Add Exclusions.
Now, select Add an Exclusion option and then add your respective VPN client software.
After a while, VPN blocking issues will be resolved on your device.
Note: You have to add the respective VPN in Windows Firewall Advanced settings as some of the VPN software uses compatible ports like 1723 for TCP and 4500 UDP and 500.

Adding Exception in Windows Firewall

Here is how to add an exception in Windows Firewall right on your device:

At the start, hit the Start menu and then type “Allow a program using Windows Firewall,” followed by tapping the Enter button.
Now, press the option Change Settings.
After that, press the Allow Another program option.
Choose the VPN software you want to add and click the Browse tab to search for the particular VPN software, followed by hitting the OK tab.
Now, you can check whether your Webroot allows connecting to the VPN or not.

Reinstalling VPN Client Software

Some Windows users reported the VPN blocking issues by Webroot. In this case, they need to follow some workarounds to resolve the VPN blocking issues on your device by reinstalling the VPN client software.

Here are the steps to reinstall the respective VPN client software on your device.

In the beginning, hit the Start tab.
Then, go to the Programs and Features section.
Search for the respective VPN from the programs listing.
Now, hit the Uninstall tab there.
After that, go to the Setup Wizard and then hit the relevant option to proceed.
Now, you will get a particular notification after successful uninstallation.
Then, hit the Close tab to exit from the respective window.
Once the VPN is still listed as available after uninstallation, then reach the Start menu followed by hitting the Run option.
Enter ncpa.cpl followed by hitting the Enter key. It will help you to launch the window related to Network Connections.
Under Network Connections, perform a right-click on your WAN Miniport labeled with your respective VPN.
Now, hit the Delete option there.
Then, press the Start menu and then input “Network Connections” into the required field.
Tap the Enter key, perform a right-click on your VPN connection, and then use the Delete tab.
Next, choose your VPN. In case the VPN is available, then remove the same.
After finishing the uninstallation procedure, you can proceed to install your VPN client.
Adding Rules to PPTP

You can also resolve the block VPN issue by Webroot antivirus by enabling the PPTP rule on your device. Here’s how:

At the start, hit the Start menu and then press the Control Panel option.
Now, search for the Windows Firewall and then choose the “Advanced Settings” button.
Next, locate the Routing and Remote Access option situated under the Inbound and Outbound Rules tab.
For Inbound Rules:
Perform a right-click on the Remote and Routing access option, followed by hitting the Enable Rule tab.

For Outbound Rules:
Perform a right-click on the Remote Access and Routing (PPTP-Out) option. Then, press the Enable Rule tab.

Note: You can also change your antivirus software if you find that the issue is out of control or difficult to solve.

Sometimes, Webroot antivirus may be incompatible with your VPN software, resulting in VPN blocking issues by Webroot. You can perform several steps and troubleshooting methods to fix this issue. You can choose several troubleshooting methods like adding Rule to PPTP, reinstalling VPN client, adding an exception in Firewall, Excluding VPN in Webroot, etc. Follow all the steps displayed on your device.
