What started as a way to broaden her base of business has led to some unique online endorsements for entrepreneur Rebekah Scott.

Ashley Gardner sports a bag by Rebekah Scott Designs while out with her quadruplets.
“We wanted to reach beyond the Midwest, because we’ve got a good presence here, but we want to reach the coastline as well,” said Scott, the founder of Rebekah Scott Designs.

So operations manager Erika Hessman started some strategic approaches to get the company’s handbags and accessories some attention.

That led Hessman to Roman Atwood, who became famous via YouTube for his videos featuring pranks caught on hidden cameras.

His tagline “Smile More” reminded Scott of her own brand, she said.

“(It’s) how to bring happiness into your life,” she said.

So the business sent a box to Atwood’s girlfriend and she ended up opening the handbag in a video that has amassed more than 3 million views on YouTube.

“We have these new boxes that are logo'ed, so we were really excited the box made the video,” Scott said. “We sent her a Jill, one of our most popular bags.”

She hasn’t been able to tell yet how much the video might have increased sales but will be watching her online data to see where traffic is being generated.

The next win for Scott and Hessman came this week.

Ashley and Tyson Gardner, a couple who struggled with infertility before giving birth to quadruplets, have a large social media following and an online baby accessory business. They also are featured on TLC’s new reality show, Rattled.
