It does not matter that what is the reason when you want to do that, but yes, when you block your number, then no one can see your caller id, and your number will be displayed as the “Private” or “Anonymous” at the recipient’s phone, and it is straightforward to do it.

When you are calling 911 or 800, then at that time, your caller id will not be blocked. And yes, in the market, some phones are programmed to accept calls from the blocked numbers.

Use the *67 Code on your Phone.
*67 code is a vertical service code. It is the part of that several codes that will unlock all the special features for your phone once you dial from your phone. When you are calling someone, and if you will add *67 before that number, it will block your caller id, and as a result, your number will show as a private number.

It is a temporary and quick way to block your caller id when you call someone, and it will support all the android phones and landline numbers, and it is free of cost. Primarily all the phone service provider supports it.

When you want to block your number permanently when you call someone, then at that time, you should save that number to your contact list by adding *67 before their number, so from now when you call that person, then it will block your caller id.

Call your Phone Service Provider.
When you block your number permanently, you should call your service provider and then ask them to put a block on your number, but you have to keep in mind that they will be asking you why you ask them to do that, and some companies charges for it.

But you must be sure to tell a specific explanation for this process when calling the phone service providers. After making the change, when you want to unblock your number, and you want that when you call someone, then they can see your caller id then at that time, you should dial *82 before that number for a single cell, and after that when you call again, then your caller id will display at recipient’s phone.

Change the Smartphone Setting.
This process is not available on all phones, and several phone service providers do not support it, but the user can do it using their smartphone by changing some settings into their mobile and then it will block your number as long as the setting will change and you can make it great when you need a long term block.

When you want to block your number on iPhone:

Firstly you should open the setting into your iPhone and then scroll down; after that, you should tap “Phone.”
In the next step, you should select “Show My Caller ID” in that menu that opens.
In the next step, your iPhone will take few seconds to connect your iPhone with the phone service providers; when it is done, you should hit “Show My Caller ID” to switch it left and turn off your caller id.
When you want to block your number on Android:

Firstly you should open your phone app and after that hit the three-dot buttons in the top right, and then you should select “Settings” or “Call Settings.”
In the next step, you should scroll down and then select “Additional Settings” or “More Settings” at this time, the same button will be different depending upon your phone type.
In the next step, you should hit the “Show My Caller ID” option, and when you cannot see it on this page, you should need to select another “More Setting” button.
And at last, you should select “Hide Number” in that popup which will display.
