So basically I presume items that you used during a battle (like arrows) should have a regular color when you mouse-over themand items of the OSRS gold individual you murdered should be a different color, so you can differentiate between them and not receive a penalty. Just something I think needs changing.

While you did the tutorial (players who've already done it might have to speak to Mandrith about fall lists, brief dialogue ) Mandrith will tell you that items that are coloured white in the listing once you mouse over them are yours (they were yours, dropped through a fight or terminated as a projectile, or a goal you murdered ) and you'll be able to pick them up without impacts. That would explain what you can pick up with no penalty, and what you can not.
