Fishing is famous in Naples. Residents and visitors alike enjoy sport fishing, deep-sea excursions, and backwater fishing trips along the Everglades. The temperate waters of the Gulf of Mexico provide a good year-round environment for a large number of catchable fish species, such as snapper, grouper, pompano, cobia, tarpon, snook, sea trout, shark, barracuda, and so many more.

Whether you go offshore or back into the bays and creeks, a guide will put you where the fish are, help you select the right natural or artificial bait, and coach you on techniques. You may bring your favorite rods and reels, but almost all guides have high-quality rigged tackle available for your use at no extra charge.

There are plenty of opportunities for fishing on your own, but hiring one of our experienced local guides will give you the best shot for a memorable fishing experience and Naples has many experienced guides to help you catch that trophy. Many specialize in certain species, fishing areas, and angling techniques.

Naples' largest fishing fleet is found at the City Dock at Crayton Cove, where you can charter a boat or rent one for yourself for deep-sea fishing or shelling excursions to one of the islands. Other areas, such as Tin City, Olde Naples Seaport, and Naples Marina will also set you up for a day of fine fishing.

However, if you're not into the wild excitement of big trophy fishing, but prefer the more relaxing sport of backwater, near-shore, fly, and flats fishing that you can explore on your own, Southwest Florida's coastline offers plenty of opportunities for you. The backwater or backcountry areas around Naples include bays, creeks, and mangrove swamps. These still, sheltered and unpolluted waters provide ideal nurseries for shrimp, crabs, and small fish, which provide an abundant feeding ground for many game fish. There are several marinas and tackle shops for boat rentals, tackle, and advice.
