Light Gauge Steel Buildings - An Overview

Light gauge steel buildings are generally fabricated on site either by the manufacturer or a sub-contractor. Once fabricated, they are then placed at the location for which they are required. They are constructed to be durable and strong and hence there is complete safety in the operation of these buildings.

The manufacturing process and the fabrication of these structures have gone through a series of quality control checks which ensure their strength and durability. Since steel is used in this structure, the quality of the light gauge steel structures is also quite high. In addition, the light gauge structure is also made to be very light, even though its weight is relatively low. This is the advantage of the construction material. Since steel is relatively light in weight, it does not create any problem when it comes to transport and installation. These types of structures have been widely used in a variety of industries including the automotive industry, building construction industry and marine applications.

Some other properties that light gauge steel has that makes it suitable for construction purposes include; it is thermally stable, which helps to prevent the expansion and contraction of the metal during any sort of extreme condition. It also offers high compressive strength and tensile strength and is very ductile. It is quite easy to cut and shape unlike other materials.

The reasons why light gauge steel structures are preferred in construction can be boiled down to two factors - strength and economic development. The strength of these structures can tolerate wear and tear and the ability to meet the future expectations of consumers since most of them are built with longer life expectancy. Economically, these structures are preferred over traditional wood framed structures due to lower costs. Lastly, steel structure manufacturers and dealers offer warranties and financial services since most of their products are produced to international standards and will last for decades.
