In the labyrinth of justice, wherever words are swords and fights are glasses, there exists a breed of an individual who transcend the ordinary and redefine the substance of legitimate power – the lawyers. They're the architects of justice, the custodians of rights, and the guardians of civilization's moral compass. But beyond the black gowns and austere courtrooms, lies a realm wherever imagination matches intellect, where strategy dances with eloquence, and where the real quality of… Continue

WINTER CAN OFTEN BE A CRITICAL SEASON WHERE PEST PROBLEMS ARISE.

PESTS FIND WARMTH AND SAFETY IN YOUR HOME AS TEMPERATURES DROP (AND MAYBE EVEN IN YOUR VEHICLE).

HERE'S A FEW PESTS TO KEEP AN EYE ON THIS WINTER.

Rodents
Mice and rats can infest your home any time of the year if they can, but in winter you may notice an increasing number of rodent issues. This is simply because they don't want to go outside in the cold. They can fit through holes the size of a coin, and a pregnant mouse or rat can start up an entire pest problem by itself. Unfortunately, rodents are also powerful carriers of diseases, so it's more beneficial for your wellbeing to contact experts as quickly as possible if you think you may have a problem with rodents.

Cockroaches
Cockroaches are most often seen in winter months, particularly when the temperature falls below 15 degrees because they do not enjoy surviving cold temperatures outside. They must therefore burrow to get into the warmth of your house. Unfortunately, besides looking creepy, cockroaches can also be dangerous, because they trigger allergies and asthma, while also potentially carrying diseases. They will eat almost anything, so the best way to prevent infestation is by keeping surfaces smooth and safely storing your food away.

Spiders
The cold weather can also increase the number of spiders in your home. While these pests rarely harm people (except for black widows and brown reclusive ones), their webs can be discomforting and problematic. their presence can be a horror show for some. Getting rid of them might be as simple as a whack with a shoe or using a cup to put them outside. However sometimes it may require getting a pest professional to thoroughly get rid of them.

Bed Bugs
Bed bugs are a year-round pest, but if you travel a lot in the winter, they may show up. You should inspect hotel rooms for any bed bugs that may have entered on another traveler's luggage, and you should inspect your own belongings when you get home to make sure they don't cause you any problems. If you find you have a bed bug infestation this winter, contact us right away to have them removed; you won't be able to do it yourself.

Ants
Ants can enter your home through cracks in the walls or foundation during the winter months. If you notice a large number of them, one of the first things you should do is thoroughly clean the area, removing all traces of food as well as the pheromones they use to indicate where they can find food. However, this may not completely solve the problem, so it's still a good idea to speak with a pest control professional.

WHAT YOU CAN DO....
The best defence against pests, as always, is a good offence: prevention. If you want to stay as pest-free as possible this winter, make sure to do the following:

Seal any gaps or holes in and around your home, such as tears in window screens and foundation cracks.
Trim back vegetation from your home's walls and roof, as overhanging branches and plants close to your home can serve as a pest highway.
All food should be kept in sealed containers in the refrigerator or on high pantry shelves.
Keep your home as clean as possible to reduce the amount of leftover food that attracts pests.
