How to troubleshoot the printer
Printer problems always appear at the worst time. Here are some ways to get your printer working again if you're printing from your PC, phone, or tablet. Printers are great when they work, but when they don't they can be extremely frustrating. Here's how to solve some of the more common problems, including not printing at all until blocked nozzles and other problems. Printers can function reliably for many years and thousands of prints, but they can also malfunction or stop working altogether.

My printer won't print
There are many reasons why your printer won't print, so start with the basics, like checking for an error message or warning light on the printer. Make sure there is paper in the tray (s), check that the ink or toner cartridges are not empty, that the USB cable is plugged in, or that the printer is connected to Wi-Fi.

How to fix the printer not responding error
When your printer is unresponsive, be sure to watch this video for information on how to fix this problem. This can be applied to all printers, but in this case it is an unresponsive Canon printer.

Check that all printer cables are properly connected and make sure the printer is turned on.
If everything is connected correctly and turned on, go to the "control panel" of the computer from the "Start" menu. Choose "printers" and make sure your printer is selected as the default.
If everything is ok in the control panel, right click on your printer icon and select "properties". Click on the "details" or "port" tab and make sure the correct port is checked. Then double-click on the printer icon, which will display a list of the current jobs in the print queue. Cancel all documents and try printing again.
If your printer is connected via a USB port, you can try connecting to other USB ports.
Check your ink cartridges - are they installed correctly?

How to fix if your HP printer is not responding on Mac OS
Is your HP printer not responding on Macbook? Try this step-by-step guide to help you fix this problem when HP printer is unresponsive on Apple laptops.

Reset network connection
Turn off the printer, wait a moment, and then turn it on to resume operation.
Check the printer screen to see if it shows the same HP printer not responding problem on Mac. If it still persists, continue to the next step.
Click the Apple icon on the desktop, a drop-down menu will be displayed.
Choose "System Preferences" and a new window with the same name will appear.
In the Hardware section, click to choose the 'Print & Scan' option.
Multiple printers would be added to the queue. All you need to do is remove the other printer from the queue by clicking the '-' icon. The purpose of pressing the minus icon is simply to delete the queue. It does not remove any software.
Click the + icon to add a printer. The new window will appear with the name 'Add Printer'. It will highlight the model name of the HP printer in the "Printer Name" section.
Select the HP printer model. Once you do, the other fields in the box, such as Name, Location, and Print Using, will be filled in automatically. Click the Add button and then you will select the desired printer for the function.
This is how the printer settings are reset in case the HP printer is unresponsive on Mac operating systems.
