Head Of Communications At Facebook Parent Meta Quits The Company: Report


The head of Communications at Facebook parent Meta Platforms, Inc. $FB: $331.79(-0.20%)

John Pinette is bidding adieu to the company, the social media company said late on Friday.

Chris Norton, vice president of international communications, will hold the role on an interim basis, a Meta spokesperson told the news agency–Reuters in an email.

“John Pinette has left Meta. We are thankful for his positive contributions during an intense and significant time in the company’s history, and we wish him well going forward,” the statement said.

The spokesperson did not disclose why Pinette is saying goodbye to the company, citing Meta policy of not commenting on personnel matters.

The Wall Street Journal was the first one to break the news of Pinette’s departure on Friday.

Before joining Facebook, Pinette was the Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Vulcan Inc., for more than two years, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also headed Google’s Asia pan-regional communications for two years.

He has worked at Microsoft Corp. in different product and corporate communications leadership roles.

Besides Pinette, Roberta Thomson, who joined FB in December 2014 as director of corporate communications and climbed up to be its vice president of all product communications, left the company last month, a source told Insider.

A Facebook spokesman confirmed to Insider about the Pinette and Thomson exit. He expressed his gratitude for Pinette’s “positive contributions during an intense and significant time in the company’s history. We wish him well going forward.” Of Thomson, the spokesman said, “We are also grateful for the enormous contribution that Roberta Thomson has made to our culture and craft. We also wish her well in her new endeavours.”

On the dashboard of Quantale, the stock activity of Meta Platforms, Inc fell nearly 42%, combined with a decrease of 47.33% in the volume.

The shares of the stock closed the market on Friday at 331.79%, down 0.20%.
