The Worst Videos of All Time About self-catering accommodation

There are many and varied types of serviced accommodation and women's affairs self-catering accommodation around the world and this article aims to define some of the main characteristics of them.

A B&B or Bed and Breakfast is often a private house with only a few rooms available for paying guests and usually takes less than 10 people in total and often do not serve an evening meal as standard.

A camping park offers purely camping pitches and they may also provide on-site facilities.

Campus accommodation is run by colleges and universities and provide meals to individuals or groups at certain times of year. This will normally be during holiday periods, particularly the summer break when rooms would normally be empty.

A guest house would normally be larger than a B&B and offer more rooms and therefore accommodate more people. The trend in recent years has been to move away from the more traditional shared bathrooms to full ensuite or private facilities for every bedroom. A guest house will occasionally offer evening meals as required as well as a breakfast and would normally be run as more of a business than a B&B might be.

A holiday park may offer you holiday homes/caravans/chalets and sometimes touring and camping pitches as well.

A hostel is a property run on a not-for-profit basis to provide beds and occasionally meals to people and may also offer some other facilities.

A hotel can vary enormously in size and design and range from having five rooms to hundreds. Smaller hotels often offer a more personal approach as they are usually run by the owners who cook and prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for you. Their rooms would usually have ensuite or private facilities and the hotel may also have a drinks license, but it is likely to be a restricted one. Larger hotels, especially those with more facilities, can offer associated activities within their grounds as they tend to be able to offer more choice due to the increased numbers of people staying there.

An inn offers bed and breakfast in a more traditional inn or pub and therefore the facilities within the property are open to non-residents and will normally offer a lunchtime and dinner menu and have a full drinks licence.

A lodge is often geared towards overnight accommodation and built on and for people travelling along the main roads. Lodges often require payment in advance upon check-in and may have a bar/restaurant on-site as well.

Restaurant with rooms have some accommodation available, but they are predominantly run as a restaurant. They will be open to non-residents and should provide you with breakfast in the morning.

Self-catering accommodation can be an apartment, chalet, cottage, house or other such built accommodation where you are provided with the facilities, but have to cook your own meals. Most self-catering properties are available for 3 days or more to a family or small group that don't exceed the number of beds available.

A serviced apartment is basically a self-catering apartment, but with the additional benefit of other services such as cleaning and tidying. If they are part of a block or enclosed property they may also offer food and drink to your room or a bar or restaurant on the premises.

A touring park specialisesin just offering pitches to tourers, but may also offer camping pitches as well.
