If it's a leisurely day out at the beach you're after, then head to sleepy Sanur for an easy-breezy day at the beach. This ocean path curves past resorts, beachfront cafes, wooden fishing boats under repair work and quite a few classy old rental properties built years back by the rich expats who fell under Bali's spell.

7. Keramas Beach-- best for pool hangs & front-row surf seats.

At Keramas Beach, it's everything about poolside grazing, volcano views and front-row seats to the browse.

Ocean infants can delight in the aquamarine waters at high tide, and sunbathers can lie underneath the numerous loungers and umbrellas that line the white sandy beach. This peaceful strip is still fairly underdeveloped with just a few local warungs serving home-cooked Indonesian food and icy cold Bintangs. And since it's blessed with awesome waves for both beginners and pros, Balangan draws in the surfy, backpacker types who choose cool tropical vibes over a pumping celebration scene.
