Susi Costello, is an American psychiatric nurse, Reiki Master, and Yoga expert. She works with people suffering from severe trauma.

She wrote an empathetic note to a 22 years old girl, who had died. She elaborates…

Today I wrote a letter to a heartbroken mother. I wanted to say to her, don’t believe in those sympathy cards and letters. Don’t believe in words like, time heals everything, God takes the best, and things like may all your sorrows be lessened with time. You will feel more and more disappointed by reading these words.

I just want to say that this moment is the most tragic, heartbreaking, and sorrowful tragedy on this earth. I want to say to her that there will be times when she would feel like dying, and most people around her will be unable to understand her state of mind, and the things she does or says.

I wanted to say to her that she will find her daughter’s presence, sometimes so strongly that it would appear that she is there somewhere nearby by her side, and is watching every activity that is going around. And at times she will feel blankness as though her daughter is not be seen anywhere.

I wanted to tell them that her life will change totally, she will not be the same person as she was before. Things will never be the same as her daughter is not with her anymore. Although the pain will never vanish from her heart the whole life, the heart will be able to take place for all the grief and sorrow and pain, joy and love she feels.

I wanted to tell her all this…. But I didn’t have the courage to say all these things to her.

Instead, I wrote just this, that I am sending my love, as at this time value of words is pointless and this is the actual truth
