This article discusses the general criteria for using direct quotations in research topics. The use of quotations in research improves the credibility and scholarly presentation of your research report. In contrast, using quotations in research should be done with caution.

Students must know the purpose of citing, how to use a quotation, how many citations should be included in a research work, and how long each quotation should be. All of this needs a thorough understanding of research quotation guidelines.

Rule #1: Direct quotations should only make up a small fraction of the overall length of the research work. Direct quoting should account for no more than 15% of your whole effort. You should only use a few quotations to accomplish this, each of which should be no more than one or two sentences long. You must be able to extract the most important details from a quote and apply them to your investigation. Citations should be used sparingly in order to support rather than overwhelm your claims.

Collect data from a variety of sources. Your paper will be plagiarised if you make the mistake of mentioning the same source more than once. To back up your statements, you'll need to mention several sources, as one or two references would not enough. There are several resources accessible to help you evaluate your ideas, but only one of them can do so.

The sixth rule goes like this:

Give credit where credit is due at all times. Include the author's full name, year of publication, and page number in the in-text reference. Include a complete reference list at the end of the research report, including the publication name, book/article/journal name, and so on.
