BRUSSELS AIRLINES REOPENS ITS ROUTES TO CONAKRY (GUINEE) AND OUAGADOUGOU (BURKINA FASO) AFTER TWO YEARS

With this addition, there are now 17 destinations served by Brussels Airlines in Sub-Saharan Africa and we are offering Brussels Airlines airline tickets with some promotional offers.

Brussels Airlines is back in the market after a two-year absence from Conakry and Ouagadougou. Today's first flight from Brussels arrives at both destinations. Brussels Airlines will now offer three weekly connections between Brussels and both cities.

"As the experts on Africa, we are thrilled to grow our market share on our most significant continent once more. Since many of our former employees were able to be hired back, we now have the expertise required to resume our direct connection between two significant African capital cities—Conakry and Ouagadougou—and our base of operations, Brussels Airport. This is a significant move that reaffirms our crucial position as a bridge between Europe and Africa.
- Philippe Saeys-Desmedt, Head of Sales Sub-Saharan Africa for Lufthansa Group and Brussels Airlines.

Brussels Airlines is welcomed by the minister of transportation and the Belgian ambassadors

Mahamadou Zampaligre, the transport minister, and Jean-Jacques Quairiat, the Belgian ambassador to Burkina Faso, enthusiastically welcome the Belgian airline to Ouagadougou.

"As the Kingdom of Belgium's representative in Burkina Faso, I am pleased to see the Brussels Airlines planes flying over the country once more, and more specifically, to see them landing at Ouagadougou International Airport. This new offer ought to increase trade between our two nations. Furthermore, the fact that many of Burkina Faso's institutions as well as a large number of international organisations are located in Brussels serves as a reminder of the close relations between Burkina Faso and Europe.
-Jean-Jacques Quairiat, Belgian ambassador to Burkina Faso
Guy Hambrouck, the Belgian ambassador to Guinea, and Khadiatou Bah, the national manager for the local Brussels Airlines team, will greet the airline's personnel and passengers in Conakry.

With a population of 20 million people, Burkina Faso, sometimes known as the "Country of Honest People," is a country in West Africa's Sahel region. There are 3 million people living in Ouagadougou, the country's capital, sometimes known as "Ouaga." Africa and the world both recognise Burkina Faso for its vibrant cultural life.

Conakry is a city in West Africa on the coast of Guinea. The country as a whole has roughly 13 million people living in it, however it only has a population of 3,5 million.

Conakry was the first destination Brussels Airlines flew to after launching the airline in 2002.

An Airbus A330 will fly passengers between Brussels and Conakry and Brussels and Ouagadougou. Connection possibilities to the whole Brussels Airlines network in Europe and the US are available due to the early arrival in Brussels.
