If you are a food business operator, you should have an FSSAI License to carry out your operations. This ensures that your food is safe and hygienic for consumption.

Every business involving the production, processing, storage, packaging, transportation and distribution of food must obtain an FSSAI License before starting their operations. Failure to do so can lead to a fine of up to Rs.5 lakhs or imprisonment.
Auditing

FSSAI License Consultant conduct auditing for food business operators to ensure that they are meeting all regulatory requirements and complying with a global food safety standard. They also help businesses meet their customers’ demands and improve their food safety and quality systems.

In order to strengthen the food safety surveillance system, the government has introduced Auditing of selected food categories by recognised Auditing Agencies. This will reduce the number of regulatory inspections conducted by Central or State licensing authorities and encourage efficient self-compliance by food businesses.

FSSAI Recognised Auditing Agencies will audit food businesses on a periodic basis and report back to the food authority. This will ensure that the food businesses are meeting all regulations and avoiding any potential hazards that could impact public health.
Preparation of Documents

FSSAI License Consultants assist in gathering the information and documents needed to apply for a food licence. They help speed up the document review and preliminary inspection processes so that a license can be issued within 7 to 10 days.

A Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) license is a mandatory requirement for all manufacturers, traders, restaurants and importers of food products. It contains a 14-digit license number and must be displayed on the premises or marked on food packaging.

An FSSAI registration is also required for industrial canteens under Section 3 of the Food Safety & Standards Act 2006. It provides several benefits to a business, such as legal protection, building goodwill, ensuring food safety and creating consumer awareness.

FSSAI registration requires that a business owner or authorised signatory sends an application in Form A signed by him or her. It must include address verification, such as a voter identification card or passport. Other documentation can include a lease agreement, electricity bill, water bill or property tax statement.
Preparation of Application

FSSAI License Consultant is a person who prepares the application for food business registration. The main purpose of the registration is to ensure that the food products undergo certain quality checks thereby curtailing any form of adulteration and sale of sub-standard products.

FBOs like small food industries, stockpiling units, transporters, retailers, advertisers, wholesalers etc are required to obtain the FSSAI registration. It is issued by the State Government based on the eligibility criteria.

The FSSAI license is categorized into two types: Basic and State or Central. The basic registration is for small enterprises and all businesses that have an annual turnover of less than 12 lakhs, such as tea stalls, snack shops, dhabas, temporary stall holders, etc.

For larger enterprises, the type of FSSAI license would depend on the size and nature of operations. For example, if a food manufacturing unit has a capacity of more than 50,000 metric tonnes, they will need to get a central or state license.
Government Fees

The cost associated with FSSAI License Consultant’s services is divided into two parts: government fees and professional expert fees. The government fees are fixed by the government and the expert fee is charged to set up an application according to the food safety regulations of the FSSAI Authority.

Obtaining a FSSAI License is an important part of running a food business. It paves the way for consumer confidence in the quality and safety of your products.

A FSSAI License is required by all food businesses including Manufacturers, Storage Units, Transporters, Retailers, Marketers, Distributors etc. Depending on the annual turnover of your business, you can choose between Basic and State FSSAI Licenses.

Getting a FSSAI License is an essential step for any business operating in India. It helps to build brand credibility among consumers and also increases the chances of gaining business in the international market.
