The Netgear Genie Setup is very easy and simple Netgear Extender setup. With the Netgear Genie app a lot of the wifi range extender settings can be done from this one app. All the extender related things can be managed easily from the Netgear Genie App once the extender is setup. There are two ways to setup the Netgear wifi range extender, one is the manual web based setup on the site Mywifiext and the other is the WPS setup (Wifi Protected Setup). The WPS setup needs nothing in particular except pressing a button on the extender and the main router. The extender and router starts to communicate and the wifi range extender sets up automatically by itself.
Mywifiext Local
The Mywifiext Local is a special site which is used for the Mac OS X or iOS device users. These device users can setup their Netgear wifi range extender on the local website Mywifiext Local. Other device users can go to the web link www.mywifiext.net and configure their netgear wifi range extender on the site or type the extender’s IP address to enter the site address. The Mac OS X or iOS users will not be able to use the other site of Mywifiext.net therefore the site mywifiext local can be used. The extender is compatible with all kinds of routers and web browsers so there shouldn’t be any problem with that.
Netgear Genie Setup
The Netgear Genie setup is extremely easy to do and any novice can also perform the configuration on mywifiext local. All that is there to do is see some pre-requisites before setting up. These can be checking all the wired connections of the extender, router and the wifi enabled device. Place the extender close to the main router; keep the web browser updated and the extender’s firmware up to date. The internet connection should be working well too so that the setup may not have any errors in between.
Below are the steps of the manual setup of the extender –
1. Place the extender in the same room as that of the router and plug the extender properly to an electrical device
2. Next open your device and launch a web browser
3. Type the site address www.mywifiext.local and press enter
4. You will be shown the login page where you have to enter the default credentials
5. Make your account if you haven’t already made one and then login
6. When you press login you will be taken to the setup page
7. Follow the given instructions there and save the settings
8. Complete the setup once you are done setting it up

1. Plug your extender and see if the green power LED is lighted up
2. Press and hold the WPS button on the extender for 5 seconds
3. The green LED will start to blink
4. Press the WPS button on the router within 2 minutes of pressing it on the extender
5. The extender-router connection will establish and the extender setup will happen
6. When the extender setup is successfully completed the green LED will become solid on the extender
When the extender is setup successfully you can move it to a new location where you are getting the best wifi signals so that the extender will transfer maximum wifi signals in all the areas of the house or office.
