How to Get Ethanol in Far Cry New Dawn

Far Cry New Dawn, the latest iteration of Ubisoft's open-world Far Cry series releases today. In the game, you'll quickly discover that getting your hands on ethanol is going to play a major role in how well equipped you are to take on the twin sisters, Mickey and Lou, and the rest of the Highwaymen. You'll need ethanol to upgrade your base called Prosperity which will, in turn, allow you to create better weapons and vehicles, unlock new skills and grant access to side missions. So now we know why ethanol is so important, we need to answer the burning question: What are the quickest ways to find ethanol in Far Cry New Dawn?

As you can probably already tell, the best way to collect Ethanol is by liberating and scavenging (i.e. letting the Highwaymen recapture) Outposts, as doing so will upgrade that Outpost’s Star Rating each time, which in turn increases the amount of Ethanol you’ll receive for liberating and scavenging it again. This Star Rating will max out after the third liberation, but you can keep liberating and scavenging the same 3 Star Outpost as many times as you wish, for a grand total of 450 Ethanol each time (600 if you manage to liberate it undetected). The second and third methods to getting Ethanol are less reliable and more opportunistic. The easier of these is to find Ethanol in Supply Drops. Now and then, you may come across a Supply Drop being dropped from the skies over Hope County. These crates are covered with yellow tarpaulins and release bright yellow smoke, making them easy to spot. A small number of Highwaymen will usually spawn and guard the drop if you don’t get there quickly. The loot found inside a supply drop is random, but it can include between 35 and 40 Ethanol. As such, this isn’t a reliable method to farm Ethanol, but it doesn’t hurt to go out of your way whenever you see a drop.

The faster way is to take down enemy Strongholds. These are small fortifications featuring enemies and alarms. You need to take out all enemies to liberate the camp. If you do so without setting off an alarm of being detected, you get a big bonus in Ethanol. Once you have taken a Stronghold, you can choose to Scavenge the Stronghold. This offers you even more Ethanol and allows you to attack the Stronghold again, this time with harder enemies and more alarms. If you purchase perks to Advanced Takedowns, Expert Takedowns and Master Takedowns, you can easily complete difficulty level 1, 2 and 3 of each Stronghold, respectively. Using this method to defeat the first 4-5 level 2 Strongholds easily nets you a few thousand Ethanol, which is enough to purchase the first couple of levels for all facilities in Prosperity.

Supply Drops are randomly dropped from Airplanes. They have a red marker in the game world and yellow smoke coming from them. The supply drops are guarded by a small group of enemies. They are random, but you can simply travel to an animal hunting spot and stand around for 1-2 minutes and a Supply Drop will appear.
