Chaz Green 'needs to be pushed', will compete to be starter

The seat Chaz Green is occupying is http://www.officialvikingshop.com/shop-by-players-jarius-wright-jer... becoming noticeably warmer in 2017.
With the retirement of right tackle Doug Free, it was largely assumed the Dallas Cowboys would finally elevate their former third-round pick (2015) to the starting post -- followed by potentially either drafting for depth or bringing in a veteran to help out. The team chose the latter, signing Byron Bell out of free agency on a one-year that contains some interesting escalators.
For Green, it means not only will he not be gifted the starting job -- he'll have to fight tooth-and-nail for it.
"Obviously we've got a guy we drafted Anthony Barr Youth Jersey in the third round, Chaz Green, who we feel like has a great opportunity to win that job," said EVP Stephen Jones, via The Dallas Morning News. "But he needs to be pushed. It's going to be a competitive situation."
Well, that's certainly saying the least.
Per Todd Archer of ESPN, the Cowboys' contract with Bell includes not simply a base salary of $1M, but also a $500,000 bonus if he becomes the team's starting right tackle -- playing, at minimum, 75% of the offensive snaps to receive that full payout (with a reduced bonus of $250K if he plays 60% of them).
Weighing in at 340 lb., he could also earn up to another $450K in weight bonuses, which is more than enough motivation for him to come in gunning for the throne on the right edge of the vaunted Cowboys' offensive line.

Should Bell achieve said feat, his age plus the aforementioned performance could also see him playing for the Cowboys beyond 2017, putting Green in a backup role as he enters the dusk of his rookie contract -- one that's already seen him often unavailable due to injury.
Also unluckily for Green, the re-signing of former first round pick Jonathan Cooper also plays into Jones' plan to keep everyone on their toes competition-wise.
"I think obviously what we did with Cooper was a big deal for us," Jones said. "He can play those inside positions, center and guard. And Bell has played all over the place. We think that's great depth for our line. It'll make it a competitive situation and we think obviously helps make us a better football team when you've got thatSteve Atwater Womens Jersey kind of competition going on internally with each position.
"At the end of the day we're going to try to get our five best offensive linemen on the football field."
Often vilified unjustly for his play, the fact is Free left some sizable shoes to fill.
