As per the sources, a leopardess wandered away from the forest of the Corbett National Park and seen in the nearby village of Belpadav. The villagers of Belpadav were having sleepless nights in the fear of getting attacked by the leopardess. However, the leopardess was captured by the staffs of the Corbett forest department and then released deep inside the forest of the Corbett National Park on Thursday.

According to Mr. Santosh Pant, the forest range officer of the Belpadav range, the local people of the Belpadav village have informed the forest department about the sighting of the Leopardess in the sugarcane field at the outskirts of the Madanpur Gaibua village. After the information, the rescue staffs of the forest ranges of Belpadav and Ramnagar had arrived on the spot where the Leopardess was last got seen.

The forest range officials then cordoned off the sugarcane field and after lots of struggle, they finally succeeded in capturing the Leopardess safely. The rescue operation was successfully ended and no one got hurt whether any forest official or the big cat in this operation. After capturing the big cat, the senior veterinarian of the Corbett Tiger Reserve, Dr. Dushyant Sharma checked up the Leopardess. He kept the big cat under his observation for some time and then the forest officials released the leopardess in the forest of the Corbett National Park.

The leopards are the second most dangerous wild animal in the Corbett National Park after the king of the forest, the Royal Bengal tigers. The Leopards are primarily spotted in the hilly terrain of the forest, but they also found venturing into the grasslands and the lowland areas of the forest for the search of their prey. Corbett National Park is one of the best wildlife tourism destinations in India and known for receiving a very high number of wildlife tourists every year.
