Radiotherapy position masks are important devices that need to be designed to satisfy the needs of the patients. But, there are many different design variations for radiotherapy masks. Thus, it is not easy for patients to choose one among them.

Designs of Radiotherapy Position Masks for Different Needs

The first type of mask is called skull base mask or CFRP-grip mask (see Fig.1). This type of design has a 3D molded head immobilizing device which makes it easier to treat cancer in the skull base area with radiotherapy. However, this design cannot be used on patients who have nasal cancer or sinus cancer. The second type of mask is called nasal mask (see Fig.2). It is designed specifically for treating nasal cancer or sinus cancer with radiotherapy.
