Different types of honey: Pure, Wild, Natural, Raw

Honey is one of the oldest diets humans consume, dating back to thousands of years. Honey is used as a sweetener and can be used for beauty aid. There are more than 300 varieties of honey present in the world. These varieties fall under the four significant types of honey found, namely, pure, wild, natural, and raw. All these four types of honey will be discussed below:

Pure Honey:

Pure honey is the type of honey that has been derived from the honeycomb. In this way, only the clear and pure liquid form is extracted for the best results. The pure honey process is believed to be the core process of beekeeping. The bees store the honey in cells. These cells are capped in the beeswax from where the honey is extracted. The extraction process is entirely natural, being manual in operation. The process can be done using a heated knife or a machine to remove the natural honey. The beehives are left undestroyed so that the bees can produce more honey in them. The organic honey found in the stores is prepared using this process, which offers pure and unpasteurized honey that offers the best results.

Wild Honey:

Wild forest honey is found in the jungles and forests as it is not a controlled colony member. The nomadic bees create these types of honey. As there is monitoring going on, it is hard to ascertain the age of the hive. The taste derived from these types of honey may vary. The varying taste is due to the nectar source not being determined. The honey is cloudy in appearance and may consist of bee pollen, honeycomb, bee wings, and propolis.

Natural Honey:

Natural honey is the honey derived from the honey bees and not used in any laboratory. This honey is much similar to pure and wild forest honey as recovering them are similar to one another. all of the above types of honey are minimally processed. They do not go through pasteurization, making them natural.

Raw Honey:

Raw honey is derived using the crush and strain method from the beehives. Raw honey, once they get strained, can be consumed directly. Raw honey does not consist of any additives, and the texture is quite different compared to the other types of honey. As these types of honey are derived directly from the beehives, the honeycomb remains intact, and the wax is visible. This is why this type of honey has a dirty and unrefined look.

It is advised to consume this honey as soon as it is produced for the best results. There can be an issue of moisture content if not consumed immediately. As there is the moisture content in raw honey, it has lesser shelf life than other honey types.
