Discover the Truth About Hinduism's Origins

The discovery of the origins of Hinduism and the beginnings of the Hindu civilization are still hotly debated topics. Because a single person did not discover Hinduism, it differs from other religions. As a result, this religion has no founder or a specific date of origin. Internally, this religion is portrayed as an eternal truth known as Sanatana Dharma. It is known to this day as one of the world's oldest religions, as well as a culture that incorporates a wide range of philosophies, ideologies, beliefs, and teachings. Plenty of evidence is available to answer the question of how old Hinduism is, which is examined from various perspectives. Various techniques have been used to determine a specific date for the origin of this religion, but no confirmation has been made, and thus the process of dating Hinduism continues.

World Religions-Based Dating

Hinduism, also known as Sanatana Dharma, predates the existence of any other world religion by thousands of years and is thought to be at least 8,000 years old. Judaism is another religion that dates back around 4,000 years and is considered the world's second-oldest religion. However, HHinduism's birth date is unknown, whereas other religions are. As a result, Hinduism is thought to be the great-grandfather of all other religions on the planet. It is thus uninfluenced by other existing religions, even though it must have influenced other religions due to its ancient existence.

Archaeological evidence-based dating

Archeologists discovered a civilization along the Indus River in 1920, which currently routes into Pakistan through northwest India. Because one of its major cities is thought to have originated as early as 7000 BC, this civilization is also known as the Indus Valley civilization and the Harappa civilization. Few writings about Hindu culture have been discovered within this civilization, but no specific date for the religion's origin has been introduced.

Indus Valley civilization evidence includes ritual bathing, a significant component of Hindu culture, animal sacrifice, terracotta figurines of gods and goddesses, and more. Based on this evidence, Hinduism was either introduced or was even older than the Harappa civilization.

Aside from the two mentioned above, there is also astrology-based dating advice. Still, no single date has achieved a level of authoritative consistency and leaves a specific conclusion behind. Because there is no particular explanation for the existence and origin of this culture, the facts about Hinduism's origin remain unknown to this day. According to scripture, Hinduism is the oldest culture and religion that has existed for many yugas and thus is eternal. Currently, scientific research is being conducted to determine the exact date of the origin of this religion.
