About This Game

Epic Battle Fantasy 5 is an over-the-top turn-based RPG adventure, full of video game references, juvenile dialogue, and anime fanservice (...and also strategic combat, monster catching, and tons of treasure hunting - if you're into any of those.)

If you're new to the series, this is a good place to start, and if you've played the other games, there's plenty of new features for you to explore.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5 features...

• Over 170 different enemies to fight, all with unique abilities and attack patterns.

This is the best JRPG experiences I ever play.
You really must try this game out, that Epic on the title is not fake.. Lot of content for price, as well as at least one more update as of this review. If you like turn based rpgs you'll love this. Epic Battle Fantasy V is a fun game that may prey off of my nestalgia. I have been with the Epic Battle Fantasy series since it's beginning and I have loved it even when there wasn't a map and it was just a linear path. In my early days of game design it drove me to looking into more complicated methods of programming. But, even with my history objectivly i think EBF5 is a good game. It has it's flaws sure, but It's a good game. The music and art a vibrant and connected so you feel immersed wherever you go and like many games nowadays the music doesn't try to change that often and instead plays off of themes and variations to present a constant thread to an area or character. The combat is difficult and challenging if you put the difficulty up high enough and there isn't really* the need for a grind (kind of in the late game, but not much). The story is funny and is a parody but does take some time to develop the characters and their relationships in a fairly limited manor. Puzzles that come with the game range from easy to difficult to "oh\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665 OH\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665 THATS SO COOL" but never are really unfair. If I have one complaint it's that the game isn't punishing. Jumping into battle has no dedication as you can escape on a whim easily with no consequence. If you are going to play this game you may want to set a challenge for ourself like "only run away after round 5" or "no runnaways at all". Other then that the combat is fairly deep although I have found that buff items (like beer and such) is still pretty useless, but buff stats are definitly more used now and setting up for a tough enemy is important at higher levels. Overall, yea, its fun, its a good time, but if you are looking for a deep story and characters you can sink your teeth into then this might not be for you. although there is plenty of fan fiction for that i guess.. Absolute worst game in the entire series. The inability to go complete Epic difficulty medals in New Game + makes it a complete waste of time to then go back and have to play through the entire game again. I likely will never play another game in this series ever again.. I love this game <3. Waited so long for the 5th installment in the series. It has disappointed in no way. great game would recommend it to everyone.. This game is amazing, I love it so much. Character development, awesome monsters, hidden secrets, and jam-packed with a bunch of nostalgia if you've played the previous games. 100% would recommend even if you haven't played the previous games.. Very good game, I'm a long time fan of the series and this one is no exception.
My only complaints are that it's very long, and that it's very similar to previous iterations, with only a few new mechanics to make the game feel unique from other EBF games as well as itself. Definitely worth playing though, it's a good game with nice art and soundtrack, and phenomenally good combat considering the turn-based system. Good difficulty as well.. Brilliant. It's been 10 years Since I found this guy on Newgrounds. Always bring me back. Good stuff Matt. All the best.
